The Pre-Hospital Emergency Care program trains you to become a paramedic. During your three years at school, you will simulate different situations where people need medical help and, with the knowledge that you acquire in class, you have to pretend to be a paramedic and help them. This glossary will be for anyone who wants to talk about my program but doesn't know a lot about it. It will help them discover a little bit more about what it is and the different term that is related to it.

- A vehicle specially equipped for taking sick or injured people to and from the hospital, especially in emergencies.
- Example: "we called an ambulance"

- noun
- A person trained to give emergency medical care to people who are injured or ill, typically in a setting outside of a hospital.
- Example: "A paramedic drives me to the Hospital today."

- noun
- The organized provision of medical care to individuals or a community.
- Example: "He went to the Hospital to get good health care "

- A serious, unexpected, and often dangerous situation requiring immediate action.

- A person receiving or registered to receive medical treatment.

- The fact of being injured; harm or damage.

- An institution providing medical and surgical treatment and nursing care for sick or injured people.

- noun
- A disorder of structure or function in a human, animal, or plant, especially one that produces specific signs or symptoms or that affects a specific location and is not simply a direct result of physical injury.
- Example: "bacterial meningitis is a rare disease"

- In a hospital, a stretcher is a device used to carry a person who must lie flat and can't move on their own.
- Example: "The paramedics put him on their stretcher to go to the hospital."

- noun
- Anisocoria is a condition characterized by an unequal size of the eyes' pupils.
- Example: "A neurological problem can cause an Anisocoria."

- noun
- An abnormal rhythm especially: a disordered rhythm exhibited in a record of electrical activity of the brain or heart.
- Example: "The patient has a dysrhythmia"

- sweating, especially to an unusual degree as a symptom of disease or a side effect of a drug.
- Example: "Because of his disease, the patient has diaphoresis."

- noun
- A blood clot that forms in a blood vessel in one area of the body, breaks off, and travels to another area of the body in the blood.
- Example: “The hospital diagnosed him with a pulmonary embolism”

- Aphasia
- noun
- It's a language disorder caused by damage in a specific area of the brain that controls language expression and comprehension. Aphasia leaves a person unable to communicate effectively with others.
- Example: "Because of a stroke, the old lady has aphasia"

- A sudden disabling attack or loss of consciousness caused by an interruption in the flow of blood to the brain, especially through thrombosis.
- Example: "he was left disabled by a stroke"

- hypoglycemia

- Low blood glucose, also called low blood sugar or hypoglycemia, occurs when the level of glucose in your blood drops below what is healthy for you.
- Example: "Because of his diabetes, this man is in hypoglycemia"
